“I don’t know enough for Torah Study…I can’t even read Hebrew…I don’t have time to prepare…” That’s what a lot of us thought before we started participating in Temple Emanu-El’s Torah Study. But after a few sessions, we understood that no Hebrew or previous knowledge is required; and all that is needed is an open mind and a desire to understand Torah in the light of our modern lives. Every Saturday morning we gather for study of the week’s Torah portion, in an informal session. From 9:00 until 10:15, we read (in English), discuss, debate, and learn together in a warm and welcoming environment. Most Shabbat mornings, the session is facilitated by a lay volunteer who has prepared topics for discussion. One of our Rabbis leads on the second Saturday of the month. Torah study is always “come as you are”, and no preparation is required (or expected). Dress comfortably, and perhaps bring a spouse or friend. We meet at the Temple in the Youth Lounge on the lower level. Please join us this week.
